The Sarawak Research and Development Council (Sarawak RDC) was established in 2017 as a statutory body. Under Clause 6 of the Sarawak Research and Development Council Ordinance 2017, the statutory body performs the following functions:
- Support, stimulate, and facilitate research and development in Sarawak
- Coordinate, direct, and monitor research among government agencies and departments as well as educational institutions.
- Enhance research standards and capabilities, facilitate commercialisation of research outcomes.
The Council is located in Kuching, the capital city of Sarawak, Malaysia.
Terms and Conditions for the Research and Development Symposium 2024 Conference Delegates Registration
Welcome to the Research and Development Symposium 2024, organized by the Sarawak Research and Development Council (SRDC) in collaboration with Sarawak Science Centre, SIDC and SMD. Please read the following terms and conditions carefully before registering for the event. By completing the registration, you agree to comply with these terms and conditions.
1. Registration Process
- All delegates must complete the online registration form.
- Registration is confirmed only upon receipt of full payment.
- Early bird registration discounts are available until all early bird tickets are sold out. After this, standard rates apply.
2. Payment Terms
- All fees are quoted in RM (Malaysian Ringgit) and are inclusive of applicable taxes.
- Payment must be made via the methods specified in the registration portal.
- A confirmation email will be sent upon successful payment.
3. Cancellation Policy
- Cancellations must be made in writing and sent to the SRDC via the provided contact email.
4. Delegate Substitutions
- If a registered delegate cannot attend, they may nominate a substitute at no extra cost. Substitutions are allowed but must be communicated to the organizers at least 10 days before the event.
- Substitution requests must be sent to the SRDC via email, including the name and contact details of both the original delegate and the substitute.
5. Event Changes and Cancellation
- The SRDC reserves the right to make changes to the event program, date, venue, or speakers if necessary.
- In the unlikely event of the symposium being cancelled, delegates will receive a full refund. The SRDC is not responsible for any other costs incurred by delegates.
6. Data Protection
- Personal information provided during registration will be used solely for the purpose of organizing and managing the symposium.
- SRDC will not share your personal data with third parties without your consent, except as required by law.
7. Liability
- SRDC will not be liable for any loss, injury, or damage to persons or property during the symposium, except where such liability cannot be excluded by law.
- Delegates are responsible for their own travel insurance and safety.
9. Intellectual Property
- All materials presented at the symposium, including slides, papers, and recordings, are the intellectual property of the respective presenters and SRDC.
- Delegates may not distribute, reproduce, or use the materials without explicit permission.
10. Photography and Videography
- SRDC may record and photograph parts of the symposium for promotional and archival purposes.
- By attending, you consent to the use of your image and voice in any media produced by SRDC.
11. Force Majeure
- SRDC shall not be held responsible for any failure to fulfil its obligations due to circumstances beyond its control, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemics, or government restrictions.
12. Governing Law
- These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of Malaysia.
- Any disputes arising from these terms and conditions will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia.

Collect, store and process your personal data that you provide in the form such as your full name, passport or identity card number, and other relevant data as required and May disclose your Personal Data to relevant governmental authorities or third parties where required by law or for legal purposes.
In addition, your personal data may be shared with any company or agency within the Research Council or government agencies.
You may at any time apply to the Research Council to have access to your personal data which are shared by Research Council.
For the avoidance of doubt, Personal Data includes all data defined within the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 including all data you had disclosed to the Research Council in this system.
